How 8 Values Test differs from the 16 Values Test

The 8 values test condenses politics into eight dimensions that appear in almost every political discussion: equality, markets, ownership, welfare, democracy, authority, nationalism and tradition.

Each dimension is scored independently on a 0–100 scale. That is the key difference from a classic left–right quiz: you might score high on equality while also scoring high on tradition, a combination that a single line simply cannot express.

Compared with the 16 values test, the 8 values version is shorter and focuses on the axes people argue about most. The 16 values test adds eight further dimensions — federalism, security, culture, science, technology, individualism, pragmatism and centralisation — which capture worldview questions like the role of faith, the pace of change and the value of technology.

Which one should you choose? Take the 8 values test for a quick snapshot you can share in a few minutes. Take the 16 values test when you want the complete profile. Both use the same engine, the same neutral question style and the same transparent scoring formula.
